OSJCT Moments
With so many precious moments happening in and around our homes each day, what better way to document it than in a weekly, bite-size story that can be shared with and enjoyed by everyone. Here are some of the inspired moments of joy our residents, teams and communities have been appreciating recently.
Christmas cards from Cricklade Pre-school
The Lakes Care Centre in South Cerney were delighted to receive so many beautiful handmade Christmas cards from the children at Cricklade pre-school playgroup. Residents usually enjoy regular visits from the pre-school children so it brightened their day to see that the children were still thinking of them and sending Christmas wishes.
Virtual Christmas carols at Edwardstow Court
Edwardstow Court in Stow-on-the-Wold, held a virtual carols evening this week, bringing residents and their family members together.
After what has been an especially tough year for those living in care homes and their families, residents at OSJCT Edwardstow Court were delighted for family members to join them for some Christmas carols which took place via a Zoom call. It was a lovely way for family members and residents to interact and connect whilst they were unable to be in the same room all together.
Residents enjoyed mince pies and mulled wine to get into the festive spirit and raised a glass to the screen to virtually cheers with their family and friends. The carols included silent night, Hark! The herald angels sing, and of course, we wish you a Merry Christmas.
Gemma Joynes, Activities Co-ordinator said, “It very special to see residents and their families joined this online event. We are finding new ways to celebrate together over the festive period, and it was lovely to see the joy it brought to our residents”.
Kind donation by MTC apprentices to Stirlings, Wantage
Thank you to MTC (the-mtc.org) for their lovely donation of gifts to our care home.
These have been collected and delivered by apprentices at the Oxfordshire Advanced Skills, Culham Centre.
Sandra Hall from MTC said: "All our apprentices are learning engineering and we decided that we wanted to give the community something.
"The response was amazing. We hope that this will bring a bit of cheer to them in these uncertain times. It was really wonderful to see the young generation be so passionate about giving they are a real credit to us."
We are very touched by this kind gesture.
Elf Day
The cheeky elves at Lake House had fun getting up to all sorts of mischief on Elf Day, much to the amusement of residents!

Congratulations to Nina, a carer at Larkrise Care Centre in Banbury, for winning the Care Home Worker of the Year Award at the Oxfordshire Care Awards 2020. The home is so proud of this wonderful achievement and look forward to a socially-distanced celebration!

We were proud to mark Remembrance Day with our beautiful poignant poppy displays on our windows, in our garden and through arts and crafts done by our residents.
