Residents and staff team up to create garden allotment

Residents and the team at Chestnut Court have been working hard as a group to set up their very own onsite allotment.

The home now has access to freshly grown strawberries, runner beans, potatoes, cucumbers, courgettes and much more. They have even built their very own scarecrow to fend off any unwanted guests!

The lockdown has also been difficult for families and friends of loved ones in our homes who have, until recently, been unable to visit. Here’s what some of them had to say on the independent review website - carehome.co.uk

I was in the sad position of having my Mum deteriorate and sadly die during this time and was unable to be with her until the very end but the staff were amazing, they kept me updated throughout and at the very end I was allowed to be with her. They met at the door with mask, aprons and gloves and as far as I could see, absolutely every precaution was being taken with gloves and aprons all along the corridors. I was able to stay with her while she passed away, with the staff offering me cups of tea and support throughout and for as long as I wished to stay after she had passed, for which I will be eternally grateful.

Music therapy

Music therapy

A local husband and wife team gave our residents a little bit of music therapy from the garden. All the residents were in their rooms listening out of the windows to a great selection of music, and some made song requests!

Raising money for Alzheimer's Society

Raising money for Alzheimer's Society

You're never far from a delicious slice of cake at Larkrise, and last week they tucked in with a clear conscience to raise money for Alzheimer's Society on their annual cupcake day! ??? It was a little different to usual, with PPE at the ready and social distancing in full swing. The cakes were as tasty as ever though, and lots was raised for a very deserving cause! ❤️

Henry Cornish Centre - I can't thank you enough, happy and cheerful staff made my stay with you more bearable as I was unable to have visitors after the first three weeks due to the pandemic. Bless you all at this awful time. Keep you all safe.

Strawberry season

Strawberry season

Our residents enjoyed the very kind donation of strawberries from our lovely Hairdresser, Heidi, who unfortunately is not able to come to visit at the moment due to COVID-19. Thank you so much Heidi, what a kind thing to do! ?
