Garden makeover from St James Place

A team of five staff from St James Place in Cirencester gave up their time to support Paternoster House and transform their garden. The team spent a whole day making the garden lovely for the residents to enjoy over the summer. The volunteers have kindly visited Paternoster House once a year for many years and the support makes a real difference to all who get to enjoy the gardens.

The Lakes Care Centre in South Cerney celebrated Turtle Day on Sunday 23rd May.

To celebrate Turtle Day the residents have been learning about Turtles, have been colouring and decorating some Turtle pictures and looking over Turtle word searches and puzzles.

The first thing we talked about was the differences between Turtles and Tortoises, people often get them mixed up, but they are not the same thing, though this day is dedicated to celebrating and protecting both.

Edwardstow Court take their residents on a virtual cruise

Residents from Edwardstow Court Care Centre in Stow-on-the-Wold went on a virtual cruise, starting on the other side of the world in Australia and disembarking at several points of interest on their return voyage. The virtual cruise docked in Australia, Ireland, Italy, Spain and France. Shirley said, “We had a very busy week on the cruise, but I was happy to dock in England so I can see my family and have fish and chips.”

Rodley House cycle challenge for Dementia Action Week

The team and residents at Rodley House have been fundraising this month to support Dementia Action Week, this included a 24-hour static bike cycle challenge from 8am Thursday to 8am Friday 21 May.

Team members at Rodley House who kept the wheels turning on two indoor exercise bike, included Activities Coordinator Dawn Copeland who organised the fundraising events. Earlier in May the home held a cake sale, with bakes donated by residents’ family members and muffins donated by the local Tesco.
