Food
The talented chef and kitchen team prepare tasty, home-cooked meals on site daily from our own kitchens. We source quality produce for our excellent breakfast, lunch and dinner menus. All-day dining is available for lighter meals and snacks and all dishes are carefully balanced to get the best nutritional value and cater for individual dietary requirements and preferences.
Seasonal produce is chosen whenever possible and of course, relatives and friends are always welcome to join us. The menus change daily, and the kettle is always on. Our chef bakes every day so there is always a fresh cake to enjoy.
Each of the households has their own small kitchen dining room where residents can take their meals if they wish. Residents are also encouraged to help prepare their own food and to make snacks whenever they choose.

Sandra prides herself in offering a warm and homely environment to care for the residents at Buckland Court. Each member of staff receives training, so they have the skills to offer an excellent standard of care to all residents.
When she’s not working, Sandra spends time gardening or walking her cocker spaniel. She enjoys relaxing with her family and riding pillion on her husband’s motorbike.
Team Leader
Nicky Riggs is Care Leader at Buckland Court. She joined OSJCT in 2009 and has worked her way up to Care Leader.
Starting off as Carer, Nicky felt a sense of belonging and felt like she was making a real difference to the residents' lives.
After a couple of years, Nicky was given the opportunity to become Shift Leader which she really enjoyed. A few years after that Nicky then became Care Leader which entailed guiding new members of staff and organising shifts, liaising with multi-disciplinary teams, attending reviews, and supervising staff members.
Nicky enjoys her role and says it can vary from assisting the Home Manager, to budgeting, recruitment, occupancy and rotas. The role also includes giving care, assisting with feeding, dependency paperwork and updating care plans.
Nicky says that Buckland Court feels like an extension of her family and that includes both staff and residents.
Care Leader
Gemma has been working for the Trust for nearly 10 years and is also the Dementia Lead for Buckland Court. Gemma feels like a part of the family working at Buckland Court and knows that it’s a place of work where she belongs. Gemma is passionate about caring for the residents and is always smiling and ready to face any challenges that may arise. Gemma has helped support many fabulous outings with the residents, but her favourite has to be the Trust's Christmas parties as Gemma loves Christmas. In Gemma’s spare time she likes to spend time with her family, 16 guinea pigs and 2 rabbits.
Head Chef
Leanne Crompton is the Head Chef at Buckland Court, and has worked for the Trust for 6 years.
She loves her job, as seeing the residents enjoying their food and socialising at mealtimes is really satisfying. They strive hard for inclusion at Buckland Court and this includes their meals. Leanne and her team work hard to make sure that the meals they make suit everyone's tastes and dietary requirements.
Outside of work, Leanne's husband and two children keep her busy, but she does find time to play in the local Netball team, and this helps her unwind and stay fit!
Head of Care
Katie has worked for the Trust since October 1997 and has worked in care for 35 years. Katie decided to work in care because she had done a college course and did a placement at Bartlett House when she was 19. She really enjoyed this so applied for bank work at Bemerton Lodge and then got a permanent job in a nursing home. Katie has worked in nursing homes, residential homes and dementia homes in numerous roles. Katie was promoted to head of care in 2017 at Willowcroft and before spending some time at St Wilfrid's Priory in Arundel, and now Buckland Court.
In Katie’s spare time, she likes to socialise, does craft work, reading and spending time with her family.
